ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

The owner and name-sake of a well-known Metro East restaurant was found dead Wednesday, according to police.

Authorities said Edward Sholar Sr., 61, died Wednesday morning due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

A weapon was discovered in his hand, according to the Madison County coroner. There were no other indications of violence to the body or signs of a struggle in the residence.
