LINCOLN COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Police said they are searching for a person who set fire to a vehicle storage facility in southern Lincoln County early Monday morning.

Authorities said the suspect hit the Heying Farms storage facility around 3:00 a.m. Two vehicles were damaged by fire, almost 12 were damaged or broken into. Nearby resident Harvel McCoy said the explosion woke him up.

“All of a sudden we heard this big explosion. It really shook our house, it knocked a picture in the kitchen off the wall,” McCoy said.

Police said the explosion happened when the suspect set a utility van on fire before flames spread to a camper next it. Authorities said whoever broke into the facility cut the padlock on the gate. Other cars were broken into or had windows smashed.

Investigators are still contacting the owners of the vehicles and believe the damage to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

If you have any information on the incident, please call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
