Rain causing flooding issues north of St. Louis area

(KMOV.com) - Persistent and heavy rainfall north of St. Louis has caused flooding issues for some areas and more rain is possible this evening and tonight.

Flash Flooding warnings continue until 6:30pm in Greene and Jersey counties in Illinois.  A levee breach occurred near the town of Hillview, IL along Hurricane creek in Greene county.  A water rescue near Hillview, IL was reported with no injuries.  Flooding is occurring near Macoupin Creek south of Carrollton, IL and expect flooding along Apple Creek.  Radar estimates 5" to 7" of rainfall for some communities in Northeastern Greene county into parts of Macoupin county in Illinois.  The runoff from this rain has caused flooding and may cause other nearby creeks to rise out of their banks.
