GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Charges were filed by Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons against a man accused of a series of armed robberies in Granite City over the past month.

State's Attorney Gibbons charged 27-year-old Ryan L. Eastling with three felony counts of armed robbery.

Early on the morning of June 14, Eastling reportedly robbed a victim who was sitting in his car after arriving home. According to a press release, two more victims were robbed in their vehicles in the area within 90 minutes of the first robbery.

While police investigated the robberies, a brown Suburban matching the description of the suspect's vehicle was spotted by police on Washington Avenue in Granite City. Officials said the vehicle fled from police and crashed into a building in Madison, Illinois. Eastling then allegedly fled from the scene of the accident.

In their investigation, Granite City police determined the Suburban driven by Eastling was reported stolen after a carjacking in St. Louis city. Eastling was discovered to be a suspect in several other area incidents.

"We are fortunate that no one was seriously injured during this man's crime spree," said State's Attorney Gibbons. "We need our citizens to feel safe in their home as well as their vehicles."

Eastling was located in a local hospital receiving treatment for injuries which could have originated during the robberies.

Charges are still expected to be filed in the St. Louis cases.

For each of the Granite City armed robbery charges, bond was set at $150,000. If convicted, Eastling faces between six and 30 years in prison.
