Man suspected of being part of truck stealing ring in custody after chase

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man suspected of being part of a truck stealing ring is in police custody after a police chase Wednesday.

According to police, their helicopter located the suspect driving a white truck at I-70 and Salisbury. The helicopter followed the suspect to N. Tucker, where the vehicle crashed after driving through a fence.

After the vehicle stopped, the suspect attempted to run and police were able to catch him after a foot pursuit.

No injuries were reported after the chase.

The suspect is accused of being part of a group of thieves that have been stealing trucks from dealerships in various counties. Authorities in St. Charles County, St. Louis County and surrounding counties have been working together to investigate the ring.

According to police, the ring is responsible for taking close to $400,000 worth of vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing between the jurisdictions.
