Jefferson County police are investigating the disappearance of 20 guns

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KMOV.com) – Police are investigating the disappearance of 20 guns between two separate Jefferson County homes.

According to police, nine handguns were taken from a residence off Parkton Way on July 7. The victim stated that he had left the guns in an unlocked tool box around 5 p.m.

When he returned around 9 p.m. the firearms were missing. The victim stated that he had left the toolbox unlocked because he did not have a key. The home had no signs of forced entry.

The remaining 11 guns were taken from a home in DeSoto. Court records state over $10,000 worth of property was stolen including, a German rifle with swastikas on the barrel, a Remington 240 bolt action left handed rifle, and a Mossburg 410 pump composite stock. 

The second victim called police after arriving home around 10 p.m. to find his garage door leading to his kitchen open and several items missing. The home was ransacked and both fingerprints and footprints were found.
