ALORTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The home of former Alorton mayor JoAnn Reed was vandalized late Thursday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., Reed’s home, located on Walnut Street, had two front windows broken and window screens ripped out and left on the ground. Her 2005 Nissan Altima had all four tires slashed and the front and back windows shattered.

According to police, Reed said she was on the phone with family when she heard a loud crashing noise, which sounded like someone was trying to enter the home.

Last year, Reed was sentenced to probation after she pleaded guilty to giving her niece, who was in jail, a cellphone.

Authorities have not released any information regarding a suspect.

According to police, the incident is under investigation.
