Parts of I-44 near I-270 closing for construction starting Monday

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Missouri Department of Transportation crews will start work on the Interstate 44 bridge over Meramec near Interstate 270 on Monday.

One lane of the interstate will remain closed around the clock for the next six weeks. Crews plan to alternate the construction work every 10 days to allow room for drivers, meaning construction will begin in on the far left lane. When crews more to the right lane, they will reopen the closed left lane. Crews may close a second lane between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Construction is scheduled to be finished by Labor Day. As soon as that’s finished, crews will begin working on the westbound lanes.

Crews will also be shutting down the ramp near the Berry exit to repair a retaining wall. Lanes will be affected Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Drivers are encouraged to use Elm and Big Bend to detour around the closure.
