Teen arrested after officer-involved shooting in north St. Louis

(KMOV.com) –Investigators were called to the 2500 block of Hodiamont after reports of an officer-involved shooting went out around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the incident began as a call for larceny at 7:15 p.m. Around 7:30, the call changed to an officer in need of aid, then to an officer-involved shooting.

According to Police Chief Sam Dotson, the police on the scene saw a 16 year-old suspect running away from the scene. He was holding an object in his hand. Police believed the object was a gun.

After officers told the suspect to drop the gun, an officer fired four shots. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is in serious, but stable condition.

The gun was reported as stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
