Mother evicted for housing daughter forced from home by flood waters

( – Landlords have evicted a woman who chose to house her daughter forced from her home by flood waters.

Stacy Stippey lived in the Lakeside Manor Mobile Home Park until recent flash flooding forced her out, so her mother invited her to move in. Stippey took her 23-year-old son and her dog with her.

“My first though was, ‘I’m bringing her here, I’ve got to have her here and I want her here. I’m worried sick because of her health,” said Stippey’s mother Nancy Weiss.

Stippey suffers from kidney failure and is on dialysis.

Weiss’ landlords have a strict policy of no pets and no other occupants.  The husband and wife landlords decided to kick the family out.

“We are given until the end of the month,” Weiss said.

News 4 attempted to contact the landlords, but received no response. Weiss said she also tried to call them, but said she was hung up on.

Several state agencies, the Red Cross, and the Salvation Army plan to meet with flood victims on July 12.  The meeting will be held from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the Telegraph Intermediate School on Dolling Hollow Road in Festus.
