Collinsville officials accuse mayor, councilwoman of misusing city money

Posted: Updated:

( – Two members of the Collinsville City Council are accusing a colleague of misusing city money and alleging the mayor improperly accepted a gift.

Councilwoman Nancy Moss alleges Mayor John Miller improperly accepted a gift from a city contractor. She also accuses fellow councilwoman Cheryl Brombolich of using city accounts for person purchases. Moss said she has proof but failed to provide and hard evidence of wrongdoing to News 4.

Miller said the accusations against him are false.

“I think a lot of things are being trumped up here and there’s a political motive,” Miller said.

Moss said the wrongdoing occurred in 2014 and that the stolen money has been repaid. Moss told News 4 she decided to bring it to light recently because she believes the city manager who investigated the matter is being targeted.

“Brombolich and the mayor have both called for his termination. I think it’s retribution,” Moss said.

Brombolich said she has done nothing wrong, believes the accusations are politically motivated, and also said there is pending litigation.

The city manager did not return repeated calls from News 4.
