One dead in Jefferson County car fire

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a woman was killed after being trapped in a car fire on Thursday afternoon.

The driver, 27-year-old Jessica Freer, was trapped after her 1998 Ford Taurus hit a tree and caught fire in the 12000 block of Highway CC, south of S. Buck Creek Road.

Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the scene Thursday afternoon.

Sergeant Al Nothum of the Highway Patrol said Freer died in the car fire.

Freer was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash and fire.

No other details were immediately available.
