EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

TriStar Properties began construction on a $30 million distribution center with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Gateway Commerce Center in Edwardsville on Wednesday.

The project, slated for completion in December, will develop more than 53 acres of land and construct a distribution facility with 80 truck docks.

"This new building will allow us to quickly meet a company's facility requirements and provides a strategic logistical advantage for large distribution operations," said President Michael Towerman of TriStar Properties in a news release.

The Gateway Commerce Center is also home to corporate tenants such as Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, Dial Corporation and Hershey.

TriStar Properties is an industrial real estate development company, which develops large business parks and resells residential land.
