United Airlines flights grounded nationwide due to automation issue

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com/CNN) – All United Airlines flights nationwide have been grounded due to an automation issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The flights were grounded around 7:30 a.m. after an outage was reported.

The extent of the problem and whether it affected flights outside the United States was not immediately known.

United spokesmen were not available for comment, but the airline’s twitter account responded to customer complaints, saying “We are working on getting you to your destination as quickly as possible.”

According to STLflights, the outage caused minimal delays in St. Louis.
