Franklin Co burglary suspects released due to lack of a victim

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Authorities released three burglary suspects from police custody because they said a victim is unknown in the case.

The prosecuting attorney said the targeted house on Shannon Lane in Robertsville, Missouri is technically not owned, since the homeowner died, and is wrapped in a legal dispute.

Franklin County Sheriff GaryToelke said two men and a woman allegedly stole an ATV and riding mower from the house they found listed for sale online.

Police said one of the men admitted to the crime, but no charges were filed against any of the suspects due to the unique legal situation.

"We have to find them again, and I don't think any of these individuals would be considered dangerous, which sometimes they are if we have to hunt them back down," said Sheriff Toelke, "But it is going to take some time and manpower."
