FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO (KMOV.com) – Police in Franklin County responded to the Lonedell Post Office Saturday morning after receiving a call about a broken window.

According to police, the building had been burglarized and the suspects were small in stature based off the way in which they gained entry. Witnesses reported seeing two juveniles in the area on black bikes around the time of the robbery. A bystander stated that a firework stand in the area had been robbed as well.

Investigators searched the Lonedell area and came across the black bikes described by witnesses in a nearby mobile home park. Police also discovered several of the items that were reported stolen from the post office and the firework stand in a burn pile. Police spoke with a woman at the residence who told authorities that her grandson was currently staying with them.

Once police began questioning the grandson he admitted that he and another juvenile had broken into the Post Office and stole several items.

The case has been turned over to juvenile authorities.
