Civilian Oversight Board to go into effect in City of St. Louis Monday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Civilian Oversight Board will go into effect in the City of St. Louis Monday.

The point of the board is to improve trust between the community and police by giving civilians oversight over the police department.

The board will consist of seven members who were nominated by the mayor and confirmed by the aldermen.

The nominated community members the authority to investigate allegations against officers in St. Louis.

Members of the Civilian Oversight Board will be confirmed in 2016.
