St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce retiring in 2016

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce has announced she will not run for re-election in 2016.

Joyce has been the city’s circuit attorney for 16 years, the longest-serving circuit attorney in the city’s history.

Joyce said she made the decision to retire so she could spend time with her family traveling around the United States.

During her last 18 months in office, Joyce said she plans to focus on her office and reducing gun violence. She told News 4 she hopes the focus on reducing gun violence will not lose steam after she leaves office.

Joyce is endorsing Lead Homicide Prosecutor Mary Pat Carl in the Democratic primary on August 2, 2016.
