Women rescued from burning house in Cahokia

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Two women were rescued during a house fire in Cahokia, Illinois Wednesday morning.

Police arrived to the home on St. Patrick before firefighters and were told two people were still inside. The officers and a neighbor worked to get the women out of the home safety.

“When we got here there was heavy fire in the living room, and in the attic and it spread into he garage attic and then started coming through the roof,” Cahokia Fire Chief Stephen Robbins said.

The women suffered minor injuries and family members took them to the hospital to get checked out.

One cat was rescued from the home but another is still missing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
