Overnight construction causing headaches in Maryland Heights

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Some residents in Maryland Heights are not happy about the construction noises they are hearing overnight.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is doing the overnight work on a section of McKelvey Road that crosses over the Interstate 270 and Interstate 70 interchange.

Residents complain the nightly noise from the construction has gotten worse, especially when crews started removing concrete on bridge joints over Interstate 270. Some residents have contacted police regarding the loud noise.

MoDOT said the work has to be done at night because the interchange is too busy and traffic is too heavy to close the roadway during the day for construction. Construction crews are asking for patience from residents in the area.

The McKelvey Bridges are just two of the 15 bridges at the interchange that MoDOT plans to work on this season. The McKelvey work is required to be done while school is still out for the summer.
