New study reveals serious health concerns about sugary drinks

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOV.com) – A new study is bringing attention to serious health concerns about sugary drinks.

Researchers from Tufts University in Boston studied surveys from more than 600,000 people and found that sugary drinks may cause an estimated 184,000 deaths each year around the world.

They estimate that consuming sugar-sweetened beverages led to 133,000 deaths from diabetes, 45,000 from cardiovascular disease and 6,400 from cancer.
