SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

Police said an 18-year-old woman was recently carjacked in front of her home in Lindenwood Park.

Authorities said the woman was sitting in her car when several suspects approached her and took off with her car, cell phone, and purse. The purse was eventually located, but her car is still missing

“It was extremely random, the kids that they targeted are good kids in the neighborhood. The girl was actually trying to get home early so she could baby sit the next day,” said 23rd Ward Alderman Joe Vaccaro.

Vacarro said it is very out of character for the neighborhood.

“It's a really quiet area, I would have thought this would have been the least likely location coming off two streets,” Vaccaro said.

Robberies are up 400 percent in the neighborhood compared to same time in 2014. So far, there have been five robberies, there was only one at the same time in 2014.
