Mercy to cut 126 positions in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Mercy is planning to cut 126 positions in a variety of departments in St. Louis.

Mercy is planning eliminate a total of 347 positions throughout the states of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas, less than one percent of their workforce, according to a company press release.

The company plans to focus on reducing management, with 178 leader positions being eliminated. Mercy plans to implement a leadership restructuring, which will involve position and title changes to roughly 185 leaders throughout the company.

Mercy is providing outplacement services and a severance package, including compensation and benefits based on position and length of service, to those affected by the cuts.

Mercy is the fifth largest Catholic health care system in the United States.
