FARMINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - A suspect is in custody after allegedly robbing the First Bank in Farmington on Monday morning.

Police said the man, who was later identified as 45-year-old Stephen Barrientez of Arizona, showed bank employees a weapon in his waistband and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Barrientez then drove north on Weber Road and troopers began pursuing him near Mineral Area College.

He lost control of his truck and crashed and overturned on Mineral Area College property, police said.

Authorities said Barrientez was unconscious and loaded into an ambulance, but then a medical helicopter arrived on the scene and airlifted the suspect.

The medical condition of Barrientez was not released.

Farmington Police said charges in the case are pending.
