Man claims brain surgery left him partially paralyzed, mute

( -- A lawsuit alleges 55-year-old Michael Krabbe stopped speaking and moving his right arm after his brain surgery at St. Mary's Hospital.

In a statement released by the hospital, SSM Health Care said "Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Mr. Krabbe and his family during this difficult time.”

Krabbe blames Dr. Gregory Bailer. He said the doctor assured him his brain tumor had been removed yet days later said another surgery needed to be performed.

This is not the first time a SSM Health Care Neurosurgeon has been accused of a bad operation. In 2013, the organization apologized to Regina Turner of St. Ann after their surgeon operated on the wrong side of her brain and skull. Then we were told the hospital took steps to prevent such an error from happening and that “ we can and will do better.”

The hospital denies the allegations against Dr. Bailey and said “we will vigorously defend our position in the court of law. We have confidence in Dr. Bailey and the care he delivers to our patients."
