WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Wentzville Mayor Nickolas Guccione vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have legalized fireworks inside the city.

The bill would have allowed residents to shoot fireworks on private property between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on July 4. It would have banned fireworks on city streets, sidewalks, and parks unless the fireworks were shot off in a park for public display.

Guiccione said he vetoed the bill because of noise, public safety, and litter concerns.
