ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( -

A St. Louis Metropolitan police officer is under internal and criminal investigation after a woman accused him of having sexual contact with her during a June 12 domestic disturbance call, a source told News 4.

The officer has since resigned from the force, the source said.

A spokesperson for the department said a complaint was made on June 13 for alleged misconduct of a police officer while on a non-emergency call on June 12, but the official police statement did not identify the officer, nor did it specify what allegations were made.  The statement did confirm the officer is no longer with the department.

Police said that once the criminal investigation is completed, the findings will be turned over to the Circuit Attorney's Office for review. Police said an internal investigation is also underway.

“The department takes allegations of misconduct very seriously and is committed to rooting out those who do not uphold our core values of Service, Integrity, Leadership and Fair Treatment to all," the statement said.
