McKinney, TX -- You've heard a lot about the McKinney cop involved in that pool party incident. For the first time, we're hearing his side of the story, kinda, through his lawyer.

"While police work is often dangerous, it is often fraught with emotion," attorney Jane Bishkin said at a news conference in Dallas Wednesday afternoon.

Yeah, it seems a lot of emotions were going on that day. Bishkin says it was really bad just before the body slam and the gun. Bishkin says that emotion caught up with Casebolt Friday, after he was on the scene of two suicide calls.

"The prior suicide calls put him in an emotional place that he would prefer not to have been in," Bishkin said.

We're told he even hesitated to answer the trespassing call at the Craig Ranch pool.

"Once the call was escalated and responded to possible violent assaults, he felt and believed it was his duty to respond," Bishkin said

And that's when things took a bad turn.

"With all that happened, allowed his emotions to get the better of him," Bishkin said.

But as we've heard all week, cops are trained to keep their cool.

"We as a department are held to a high standard of action as we do our jobs," McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley said Tuesday night.

The incident has led to threats against Casebolt and McKinney P.D. Bishken says he resigned in the best interest of himself and his fellow officers.

"That day was not representative of 10 years service to the community of McKinney," she said.

That service is over. Bishken says Casebolt will not be a cop again. But for now, he doesn't know what he will do.
