Bicyclist safety a priority across St. Louis

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Over the last year bicyclist safety has become a priority across St. Louis.

Last year there were less than 100 miles of bike lanes throughout the City of St. Louis. Now, there are 135 miles available for bicyclists.

City officials are currently wrapping up the third phase of the Bike STL project, which is a partnership between the city and Great Rivers Greenway. The project is working to increase bike lanes and routes.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, four cyclists died last year on state roads and 405 were hurt in over 500 accidents.
