Two shot in South City Wednesday morning

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Two men were shot late Wednesday morning near the intersection of Tennessee and Chippewa in south St. Louis.

Officials responded to the scene around noon, where they found a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the leg, torso and neck. The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition. 

Later, police said they found another victim at a hospital. Police said he was shot in the leg and is in stable condition.

The second victim, a 29-year-old man, told police he was in the 3700 block of Tennessee with the other victim buying narcotics when he heard a gunshot and realized he had been struck. The victim said he ran to a residence in the area of Michigan and Miami for safety. While at the residence, the victim said he continued using the drugs and fell asleep. When he awoke, he realized the extent of his injuries and was taken to a hospital by a family member.

Witnesses told police they saw the suspect exit the north alley, approach the victim and fire the shots.

The investigation is ongoing.
