EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Firefighters in Edwardsville started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Metro East Humane Society's alarm system.

The Edwardsville Firefighters IAFF Local 1700 donated $250 and George Alarm donated labor and some equipment to repair the non-profit's system.

The total cost for the system was estimated at $3,500 but only $1,750 needs to be raised after the donation from George Alarm. Any funds raised over the amount needed for the repair will go the Metro East Humane Society for use in keeping the shelter running, Capt. James Whiteford said.
