SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A suspect has been arrested in the death of an 86-year-old Sunset Hills woman.

Mark Douglas Patton, 67, is accused of forcing Terry Tobey to write him a check before he fatally shot her last month in her home in the 12600 block of Bradford Woods.

Patton is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.

According to neighbors, the woman lived alone and hadn't been seen in a couple of days, so a friend entered the home to check on her. The woman's neighbor told News 4 they saw her lying on the bedroom floor with a small amount of blood nearby. According to the neighbor, there were no signs of a struggle at the home.

There is no indication the woman's death is connected to the disappearance of Linda McLaughlin, 57, according to police. McLaughlin was reported missing from her Sunset Hills home days before Tobey was killed.
