Large hail, damaging winds, possible severe storms heading to News 4 viewing area overnight

Posted: Updated:

( – Most of the News 4 viewing area will be under a slight risk for severe weather during the overnight hours.

Meteorologist Meghan Danahey says clusters of strong storms to our north will slowly drop into the News 4 viewing area overnight. Northern sections from Troy to Bowling Green, MO and Litchfield, IL will likely see storms after 10:00 p.m.

These storms will most likely move into the northern sections of the St. Louis Metro after midnight and across the metro from 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. Scattered storms will continue east and south through daybreak.

Hail and damaging winds are possible. The storms should show a weakening trend south of the I-70 corridor, but we will be in the 4 Warn Storm Center all night monitoring the situation.

A few storms are expected to linger into the Monday morning commute.
