FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The vehicle of a missing Sunset Hills woman was found in South City while officers searched her family's Franklin County property Friday.

According to officials, the vehicle owned by Linda McLaughlin, 57, was found at Tennessee and Iron Street. Neighbors told News 4 the vehicle was found around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Friday morning, 50 police officers began searching the McLaughlin family's property in Gerald, Missouri. The property is used as a weekend getaway home for the family.

McLaughlin was last seen around 7 p.m. Monday night. The St. Louis County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit was called in to assist with the investigation after the Sunset Hills Police Department believed the circumstances surrounding her disappearance to be suspicious.

It's very difficult. As you can see around me, [the area] is heavily wooded," said St. Louis County Police Sgt. Brian Schellman. "Guys have to comb through that. [We are] trying to wade through everything around us. It's very difficult for these guys." Schellman said nothing in particular drew police to the area other than the fact that the property is owned by McLaughlin's family.

No suspects have been identified in the case. Police say it's as if she has just vanished.

Anyone with information about McLaughlin's disappearance is asked to contact the St. Louis County Police Department.
