St. Peters, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Friday morning's storms caused damage in St. Peters.

The storms blew the roof off of a building in the 100 block of Boone Hills Drive before 6 a.m. The roof landed in a residential yard in the 1100 block of Spencer Hill, police said.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

National Weather Service personnel surveyed damage across the area and determined that an 80-mph microburst was the cause. A microburst is a very small-scale downdraft, or sinking air, in a thunderstorm. Microburst winds can reach speeds of 150 mph and can cause a threat to life and property.
