An apartment ceiling fell on a mother and her 2-month-old infant Wednesday in Belleville, according to the East Side Volunteer Fire Department.
Authorities said the incident happened before noon at an apartment complex on Brookshire Court.
Kevin Bouse, who owns the property, said the entire living room ceiling and part of the dining room suddenly dropped on the woman and child.
The two were taken to the hospital, but neither were seriously hurt.
Zoning officials inspected the apartment the same day and are working to figure out what caused the collapse.
