Armed robbery, car theft suspect runs from scene of multi-car accident

Posted: Updated:

An armed robbery was the catalyst for a multiple-vehicle accident in north St. Louis Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 5700 block of Delmar at approximately 12:49 p.m., where victims told police they were robbed at gunpoint of their cell phones and car keys.

The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle of one of the victims.

According to police, the suspect was then involved in a multiple-vehicle accident at the intersection of Union and Cote Brilliante at approximately 1 p.m.

After the collision, a News 4 photographer on scene saw the suspect run from the scene of the accident.

Police said they took four suspects into custody from a vehicle on Carter later in the afternoon.

Investigators could not immediately determine if one of the arrested subjects was the suspect in the earlier car theft who fled from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
