Carjackings reported minutes apart in west St. Louis overnight

ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( – Two people were carjacked within minutes of one another in west St. Louis overnight.

The carjacking's occurred less than 15 minutes and two miles apart starting around 12:40 a.m.

The first victim told police two men armed with guns and wearing surgical masks robbed him of his blue 1993 Chevrolet Caprice in the 2700 block of Goodfellow. The suspects drove up to the victim's vehicle in a small white SUV and demanded the 37-year-old victim exit the vehicle.

Around 12:53 a.m. in the 4800 block of St. Louis Avenue a woman had her Chrysler 300 carjacked. The woman told police one of the suspects showed a firearm and demanded she exit the vehicle. While another suspect opened the rear door of the vehicle and removed a 6-year-old girl from the backseat.

The suspects took the woman's car, cell phone and purse.

"You just have to be more cautious of your surroundings in high crime areas," said LaMont Thompson, an area resident. "And just pray to God that it decreases, not increases."

No injuries were reported during the incidents.
