18-year-old shot after refusing to hand over property to armed robber

(KMOV.com) – An 18-year-old man was shot and critically injured after he refused to hand over his property to an armed robber.

According to the victim, he was standing behind the suspect in a gas station in the 2900 block of Vandeventer when the robbery was announced. The suspect turned to him and demanded he hand over his belongings. The victim refused and a struggle began.

During the struggle, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking the victim once in the side of his neck. He then fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital where his is listed as critical.

The suspect is described as a black male, 22-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a light complexion, thin build, corn rows, and was wearing a red shirt and black shorts. He was seen driving away in a black Chevy Monte Carlo with red racing stripes.

Anyone with info is asked to call police.

The investigation is ongoing.
