(KMOV.com) – Police say they arrested eight protesters in downtown St. Louis Friday night.

The eight protesters were part of an extended protest that began at Kiener Plaza around 8:15 p.m. Some of the protesters marched toward Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village where they conducted a peaceful protest.

All of the protesters were instructed, before leaving Kiener Plaza, to remain on the sidewalks. However, around 11:40 p.m., some of the protesters began walking into the street in the 1100 block of Washington, putting themselves and many drivers at a high risk for injuries. After protesters ignored traffic signals and almost caused multiple accidents, officers instructed them to continue protesting on the sidewalk, but they refused.

Six protesters were arrested for impeding the flow of traffic. The remaining two protesters were arrested for impeding the flow of traffic and resisting arrest. Officers were forced to use a stun gun on Emmanuel Jones, 21, and Kristine Hendrix, 34.
