A former Belleville drug courier was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for heroin and cocaine distribution.
Ronald G. Murphy, 53, was arrested by DEA agents at a St. Louis bus station on April 18, 2014. At the time of the arrest, Murphy was in possession of 45 grams of heroin, which he intended to deliver to a Belleville drug dealer, prosecutors said in a news release Thursday.
Murphy was convicted of working as a drug courier from December 2013 to April 2014, taking cash from Belleville to Chicago and bringing heroin and cocaine back to Belleville to sell in the Metro East area.
