ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

More than a dozen people were involved in the assault of a street musician who was jumped a few feet away from Ballpark Village, police said.

Blake Shoemaker said he was leaving Tuesday night's baseball game when he witnessed the attack on a man playing drums in the Ballpark Village parking lot. Shoemaker said he saw two groups of teenagers leave the scene.

"My friend and I walked up and asked if he was alright and he said one came up and struck him in the face and took his money," said Shoemaker.

According to police, the drummer suffered some scratches but did not sustain any other injuries.

A 60-year-old man was also assaulted and robbed in the Ballpark Village parking lot the previous week.

"It's senseless people come out here to enjoy themselves and these kinds of things happen," said Aaron Owens, who works near Ballpark Village.
