Homeless shelter sues city over new restrictions

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Lawyers for the New Life Evangelist Center, the only homeless shelter of its kind in the St. Louis area, are suing the city of St. Louis.

Director and Founder Larry Rice said the center cannot accomplish the goals of their mission under new restrictions dictated by the city.

"It's kind of scary because when I lost my job and apartment, this was the only place available," said Sylvia Vinson, who lives in the shelter. "I called and called and asked my landlord for an extension. He gave me one, but nothing was available except for here."

Rice said mediation with the city will begin Wednesday.
