(KMOV.com) – Residents in St. Charles County had a rude awakening on Memorial Day after tornado sirens accidentally went off early Monday morning.

St. Charles County Spokesperson Colleen McEntee says it was a computer glitch that had a single siren going off at 5:00 a.m.

The siren is located on the Ostmann Elementary School property, off Highway N. McEntee says the siren has been temporarily disabled until detailed diagnostics can be completed to determine the issue.

There are 130 sirens in St. Charles County. The County's “Division of Emergency Management” operates all of the sirens, except for those in the city of St. Peters. Those sirens are operated by the city.
