Four people were taken to the hospital after a shooting on the 2700 block of Dayton Sunday night.

Police say the incident happened just before 11:00 p.m.

One of the victims said she was shot three times and her cousin, who just recently moved to the neighborhood, was also shot while they were sitting on the steps with two neighbors.

"I got one lodged in my skin right here. A bullet is just right here,” the victim said. "We was just outside. Me and my cousin and the kids minding our own business when out of nowhere we just, a car hit the corner and when I say gun fire it just happened so fast.”.

The seven children of the victims were playing just a few feet away. None of them were hurt, but the victim says that only adds to her fear. "They innocent babies, but you don't care about that. You will let go 60 rounds of bullets and fire in front of women and kids.”

Police say the victims gave conflicting reports about the shooting and were uncooperative with the investigation, but she says that is not the case.

She said the bullet holes left on the walls are a constant reminder of the unsettling shooting. "I'm nervous, I'm looking over my shoulders. I don't know where it came from. It's just a senseless act."

The woman said she and one of the men were released from the hospital.

She said her cousin is in critical condition, and another man also remains in the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
