Boy Scouts observe Memorial Day by placing flags at Jefferson Barracks graves

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Boy Scouts from across the St. Louis area helped to prepare Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for Memorial Day.

More than 4,000 scouts gathered Sunday afternoon to place an American flag at each of the cemetery's 190,000 graves.

It took about two hours for the scouts to decorate the graves, a task which scouts have been completing since 1949.

A Memorial Day service will be held at the cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday.
