Dr. Ed Hightower, superintendent of the Edwardsville School District
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The longstanding superintendent for the Edwardsville School District will retire at the end of the month.
Dr. Ed Hightower has worked in public education for 40 years. He spent 21 years in Alton and 19 years as the superintendent of the Edwardsville School District.
“The one thing I can go to bed tonight and say, with any decision that I've ever made, I made it in the best interest of the kids, of the children that I was entrusted to provide that safe and nurturing environment for,” Hightower said.
Hightower is also regarded as a legendary college basketball referee and the author of “The Whistle Blower.”
Dr. Hightower will give his final graduation speech Saturday afternoon. At the end of the speech he plans to encourage graduates to make a difference in their community and their country.
