PEVELY, Mo. ( - A 24-year-old man from Imperial was arrested twice within the span of an hour last week for allegedly breaking into vehicles in Pevely.

A neighbor reportedly saw the suspect breaking into a car before midnight on May 13 and called police.

Police then discovered a GPS on the suspect which matched the description of a GPS missing from the victim's car, according to Pevely Police Chief Ron Weeks.

The suspect was arrested for misdemeanor stealing and was released just before 1 a.m. May 14.

Less than 20 minutes later, another call was made for a man reportedly stealing power tools from a Jeep Wrangler and the description of the man matched that of the suspect just released.

A witness was able to identify the man as the suspect in a booking photo for earlier in the evening.

Officers then arrested the suspect for a second time on suspicion of felony stealing and receiving stolen property.

The suspect was held in Pevely jail until Monday on the misdemeanor stealing charge until he was transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.

No warrant has been filed for the felony theft charges.
