FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A chronic drunk driver was arrested for his 13th offense Friday night, according to police.

Owen R. Tross, 60, of the 1100 block of Lindsay Lane, was taken into custody on felony driving while intoxicated charges after the vehicle he was allegedly driving crashed at the intersection of Washington Street and St. Ferdinand Street in Florissant, police said.

"Nobody was hurt. We were just kind of shocked to see it on our corner," said Tracie Smith, who owns a business next to where the accident took place.

At the time of the non-injury accident, Tross was driving on a revoked license, according to police.

The Florissant Police Department issued warrants against Tross for felony driving while intoxicated and felony driving with a revoked license.

According to police, Tross had 12 prior driving while intoxicated charges before Friday's accident.

Officer Craig Dehart said he doesn't know why Tross's original 8-year sentence for his twelfth DWI conviction was reduced to just two years.

"We make the arrest, and then hand it over to the prosecuting attorney's office," said Dehart. "If they decide to file charges, then it's passed on and decided through the court system."

Dehart said he expects Tross will be ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence, along with any other sentence that may stem from this recent accident.
