A teacher at Kirkwood's Keysor Elementary School is participating in a Japan-United States teacher exchange program to learn from Japanese educators how to teach sustainability to children.
Traci Jansen was picked out of more than 100 teachers across the county to travel to San Francisco to participate in the program.
"Sustainability means helping the earth and kind of saving lives by not polluting," said 7-year-old Raven Crenshaw, one of Mrs. Jansen's students.
Jansen's classroom experience is complimented by Keysor's sustainability features, such as a greenhouse and a community garden.
